To prepare itself against any military contingency emanating from Iran and to scuttle Tehran’s nuclear programme, the Israel Air Force has created a dedicated ‘Iran Department’.
Iran, so far, has played spoilsport in the ongoing Israel-Hamas War since it has actively been supporting its Houthi and Hezbollah proxies that have actively engaged Israeli forces, apart from harassing commercial ships moving across the Red Sea.
The new unit has been instituted under the command of Maj.-Gen. Tomer Bar.
According to reports, while the creation of a department exclusively focused on Iran has been in the works for a long time, it was greenlighted during a recent IDF announcement.
The Jerusalem Post quoted official sources in the Israeli security apparatus as saying that the move was intended not just to warn Iran, but also to serve as a warning to the US that has so far failed to deal with the Iranian nuclear programme effectively.
Goes without stating, the department also comes as a threat to Iran’s terror proxies that have so far operated as non-State actors to destabilise West Asia staging terror acts from countries, such as Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip.
