Israeli ambassador to India Naor Gilon Friday urged people to click pictures wearing yellow band around their wrists to commemorate 15 years of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Gilon also drew parallels between the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the 7 October Hamas onslaught on Israel that triggered the latest conflict in West Asia. Sharing a video message on X, Gilon said, “This week we mark the 15th anniversary of the tragic 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. I would like to extend my heartful condolences to the people of India and salute their unbreakable spirit.” “The 26/11 attack also took a toll on Israel. The recent event of 7 October reminds us that the fight against terrorism continues, highlighting the importance of our solidarity,” he said. Gilon invited people to join him and tie a yellow band around their wrist and share with the Israeli embassy their pictures to symbolise “our joint commitment to stand together against terrorism.” The yellow band represents our shared values, resilience and determination to build the world free from terror. Together we can make the difference," he said and thanked the people of India for their “unwavering support.” “Let’s continue, stand strong shoulder to shoulder, remembering the past, facing the present and building a safer future for all,” he said.

This week, we commemorate 15 years of the horrific #MumbaiTerrorAttack.

The tragic events of #Mumbai2611 and the recent #Oct7Massacre underscore the urgency of standing together against terrorism.

His message comes mere three days after Israel officially designated Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) as a terrorist organisation. “To symbolise the marking of the 15th year of commemoration of the Mumbai terror attacks, the state of Israel has listed Lashkar-e-Taiba as a Terror Organization,” the Israeli mission in New Delhi said in a statement on Tuesday. The statement further specified that the listing of LeT as terrorist organisation was done by Israel without any request from India. Also Read: Israel lists Lashkar-e-Taiba as a terror organisation ‘despite not being requested by Indian govt’ “Despite not being requested by the Government of India to do so, the state of Israel has formally completed all necessary procedures and has satisfied all required checks and regulations to the result of introducing Lashkar-e-Taiba into the Israeli list of illegal terror organisations,” the Israeli embassy said. “Lashkar-e-Taiba is a deadly and reprehensible terror organisation, responsible for the murder of hundreds of Indian civilians as well as others. Its heinous actions on November 26, 2008, still reverberate in force, through all peace seeking nations and societies,” the Israeli embassy said. During the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, the LeT terrorists had also targeted the Chabad House, a Jewish community center in the city. A total of 166 people, including six Americans, were killed and another 238 were injured in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks in which 10 Pakistani terrorists laid a siege for over 60 hours, attacking and killing people at iconic and prominent locations in Mumbai.
