Israel agrees to Trump-mediated ceasefire with Iran, says all objective achieved in war

In the first formal confirmation, Israel’s foreign ministry has said that the government has agreed to a ceasefire with Iran brokered by US President Donald Trump.

Israel has agreed to a ceasefire with Iran brokered by US President Donald Trump, according to the country’s foreign ministry.

This is the first formal confirmation from Israel that the country has reached a ceasefire with Iran.

In a statement on X, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Tuesday said that the ceasefire has been agreed to after achieving all objectives of ‘Operation Rising Lion’. It said that Israel would return to war if Iran would violate the ceasefire.

“Israel has removed from over it a double existential threat — on both the nuclear issue and regarding ballistic missiles. The IDF also achieved complete air superiority in the skies over Tehran, struck a severe blow to the military leadership and destroyed dozens of Iran’s main regime targets,” the statement read.

The announcement came hours after Trump announced that Isreal and Iran had reached the ceasefire in the war Israel began on June 13. Even as Iran launched waves of missiles after Trump’s announcement, Iranian state media reported that a ceasefire had been reached with Israel.

The statement said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened the Security Cabinet last night and informed that Israel had achieved all objectives. After declaring the victory, they agreed to the ceasefire.

“In light of having achieved the objectives of the operation, and in full coordination with President Trump, Israel agrees to the President’s proposal for a bilateral ceasefire. Israel will respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire,” the statement read.

‘This is a great success for the people of Israel’

The MoFA said that Operation Rising Lion was a “great success for the people of Israel and its fighters”.

The statement said that Israel achieved the following objectives:

  • Removing the threat of the Iranian nuclear programme and ballistic missiles

  • Achieving air superiority in the skies over Tehran

  • Striking a severe blow to Iran’s military leadership

  • Destroying dozens of Iran’s main regime targets

  • Killed hundreds of personnel of Basij, the internal security service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC)

  • Killed a senior nuclear scientist

Trump roped in Qatar to broker Israel-Iran ceasefire

Qatar played a key role in the Trump administration’s efforts to bring the two sides to a ceasefire, according to Fox News’ Trey Yingst.

Yingst reported a diplomat aware of the matter as saying that Trump spoke with Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar and informed him the Israel had already agreed to a ceasefire. The diplomat said that Trump asked Qatar to help persuade Iran to do the same.

After the conversation between Trump and Emir of Qatar, US Vice President JD Vance coordinated with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on the details of the ceasefire, according to the diplomat.

This effort proved successful and the Iranians agreed to the ceasefire, the diplomat said.
