Indian forces responded after Pakistani troops opened “unprovoked” fire at posts along the Line of Control last night, amid escalating tensions over the killing of 26 civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The situation along the LoC has continued for two nights.

“On the night of 25th-26th of April 2025, unprovoked Small Firing was carried out by multiple Pakistan Army post all across the Line of Control in Kashmir. Indian troops responded appropriately with small arms. No casualties reported,” the statement read.

The Indian Army said multiple posts came under fire from across the LoC, which separates Indian and Pakistani forces in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Indian troops responded appropriately, officials said.

No casualties were reported in the exchange, the Army said in a statement.

Speculative firing was also reported the previous day, with military sources saying Pakistani troops may have been testing the alertness of Indian soldiers. These developments come as calls grow in India for strong action against terror camps across the LoC.

The ceasefire violations come after India announced several measures in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
