PM Modi backs AI unity, announces India to host next AI Action Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India will host the next international summit on artificial intelligence after co-hosting with France in Paris on Monday and Tuesday.

The prime minister welcomed the decision to set up the AI Foundation" and the Council for Sustainable AI, saying that he believed there was unity across all stakeholders in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

“I welcome the decision to set up the “AI Foundation” and the “Council for Sustainable AI”. I congratulate France and my dear friend President Macron for these initiatives and assure our full support,” PM Modi said.

In his concluding address at the AI Action Summit, which he co-chaired with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, PM Modi said “Today’s discussions have brought out one thing - there is unity in vision and unity in purpose across stakeholders.

Stressing the need to make the “Global Partnership for AI” truly global, PM Modi said, “It should be more inclusive of the Global South and its priorities, concerns and needs.“To build on the momentum of this Action Summit, India would be happy to host the next Summit,” Prime Minister Modi said.

In a post on X, PM Modi said that the summit was a commendable effort to foster meaningful conversations around AI.“The AI Action Summit in Paris is a commendable effort to bring together world leaders, policy makers, thinkers, innovators and youngsters to have meaningful conversations around AI.”

JD Vance supports PM Modi’s view that AI won’t replace humans

US Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s view that Artificial Intelligence can never replace humans but will make people more productive and will provide them with more freedom.

Speaking after the address to the AI Action Summit in Paris by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, Vance said “I appreciate Prime Minister Modi’s point. AI, I really believe, will facilitate and make people more productive. It is not going to replace human beings it will never replace human beings.”

“I think too many leaders in the AI industry when they talk about the fears of replacing workers, they miss the point. AI is going to make us more productive, prosperous and free,” Vance said said.

He said that the Donald Trump-led US administration “will maintain a pro-worker growth path for AI so it can be an important tool for job creation in the US.”
