The death of former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi on 20 October was followed with great interest all over the world. As reports of first his capture and then his death slowly trickled out, a number of videos began to surface showing celebrations as well as interviews with NTC soldiers who were part of the last battle in Sirte that killed Gaddafi. Al Jazeera has this video of some NTC fighters describing the capture of Gaddafi. The soldiers said that they had learned of Gaddafi's location from some loyalists who had surrendered. Apparently he did not resist capture, but died of wounds after a fresh gun battle broke out between loyalists and NTC.

The interim Prime Minister of Libya Mahmoud Jibril tells Al Jazeera that the death of Gaddafi is a huge relief, adding that he would honor his commitment and step down as interim Prime Minister of Libya:
