The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has said that the house of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh has been bombed by an Israeli drone. As per media reports, a missile was fired at Haniyeh’s home in the Al-Shathi neighborhood in northern Gaza. It is however not clear whether any of his family members were at home when the strike occurred on Saturday. Haniyeh has been living in exile since 2019 in Qatar. Last month, 14 members of Haniyeh’s family were killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza, including his brother and nephew. Meanwhile, an Israeli air strike on an ambulance in northern Gaza killed 15 people and injured 60, according to the Hamas-controlled enclave’s health ministry. The Israeli military said it targeted an ambulance “being used by a Hamas terrorist cell”. They stated that the strike killed Hamas fighters and accused the group of using ambulances to transport militants and weapons. A Hamas official, Izzat El Reshiq, denied the allegations that their fighters were present. The Gaza health ministry spokesperson, Ashraf al-Qidra, stated that the ambulance was part of a convoy targeted by Israel near al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. Israel’s military did not provide evidence to support its claim that the ambulance was linked to Hamas but mentioned they would release more information later. The military said, “We emphasize that this area is a battle zone. Civilians in the area are repeatedly called upon to evacuate southwards for their own safety,” reported Reuters.
