 "'I think we have him': Trump on Charlie Kirk's shooter")
US President Donald Trump has said that the person who shot right-wing media personality Charlie Kirk has been caught.
“I think with a high degree of certainty we have him in custody. They’re going announce it today,” Trump told Fox News.
Trump did not identify the suspect.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or Utah authorities have not announced any arrest. They have also not named any suspect so far.
In the interview with Fox, Trump said that someone close to the suspect turned him in.
The suspect was being held at police headquarters and their minister and father helped in the capture, Trump further said,
“I hope he gets the death penalty,” Trump further said.
Kirk was shot dead on Wednesday at an event at the Utah Valley University at Orem, Utah. He was speaking at an event with thousands of attendees when he was shot. Witnesses have claimed that a person on a rooftop more than 100 yards away was seen running after gunshots were heard, suggesting the person could be the shooter. The FBI later released photos and videos of the suspect.

In the video shared by the FBI, a man is seen running on the rooftop, jumping off the rooftop, and running across a lawn.
The FBI had previously released photographs of the suspect. He was seen wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, and a black shirt having an eagle and an American flag.
Officials believe the suspect “blended in well” in the campus as he appeared to “be of college age”, according to The New York Times.
Officials further said that the suspect arrived on campus shortly before noon local time and climbed a stairway up to the roof of a university building, the report said.
The FBI has offered a reward of $100,000 for information leading to the person’s capture.
