I have moved on from the Lewinsky scandal: Hillary Clinton

Washington: Hillary Clinton, a potential Democratic Party candidate for 2016 presidency bid, has said she has “moved on” from the Monica Lewinsky scandal that dominated her husband Bill’s second term as US president. Clinton, in an interview with People magazine that was released yesterday, said, “I think everybody needs to look to the future.” The 66-year-old former secretary of state said she did not take the time to read an essay by Lewinsky that was published by Vanity Fair last month about the Clinton affair and her life since then. Clinton said she had “moved on” from the scandal that rocked her husband’s second term as president, the New York Times reported. [caption id=“attachment_1557751” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Associated Press](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/HillaryClinton_AP_24May.jpg) Associated Press[/caption] Asked about published reports that she called Lewinsky a “narcissistic loony toon” after the affair became public, Clinton said, “I’m not going to comment on what did and didn’t happen.” The comments by Clinton are the first she has made addressing questions about Lewinsky since the scandal was revived in recent months, partly by conservatives and partly by Lewinsky’s Vanity Fair article. Lewinsky, 40, had broken her silence last month on her 1990s affair with then US president Bill Clinton, saying he took advantage of her even though it was a “consensual relationship” and she became “suicidal” after the scandal became public. In the interview, Clinton also discussed her life since leaving the secretary of state’s job last year, which involved cleaning out her closets, doing yoga and aquatics and binge-watching the Netflix series “House of Cards”, a Washington-based political thriller. She said she was trying not to dwell on any decision about running for president in 2016. “With the extra joy of ‘I’m about to become a grandmother’, I want to live in the moment,” she said. Her daughter, Chelsea, announced in April that she was pregnant and expecting her first child. However, Clinton hinted that she may take a call on running for presidency in the next few months. “I am concerned about what I see happening in the country and in the world. Through the next months, I will think more about what role I can or, in my mind, should play,” she said. PTI
