Washington: Britain’s Nehal Bhogaita has won the title of Miss India Worldwide, making her the first hearing-impaired contestant to win the beauty pageant. The first hearing impaired contestant in the pageant’s history, Nehal aspires to be a role model for people with disabilities, according to a media statement issued by its organiser Dharmatma Saran of IFC. While she is unable to hear the music, she dances following the vibrations of the beats. The First Runner-Up was Jasveer Kaur Sandhu of Malaysia and Second Runner-Up was Surbhi Sachdev of Oman. The other two finalists in the top five were Geetanjali Kelath of UAE and Ayushi Chhabra of Nigeria. PTI
