Hamas has stolen fuel and medical supplies from the United Nations that were meant for refugees in the premises of the Gaza Strip, the UNRWA said. “Today, the UN revealed the true face of Hamas when they confirmed that Hamas stole fuel and medical equipment from UN offices in Gaza City. The amount of fuel stolen is enough to power Gaza’s water desalination for 6 days,” Israel Defence Forces Spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said.
The Palestinian terrorist group said it has held over 200 to 250 people, including foreigners, hostage in Gaza. Spokesperson Abu Obeida noted that although there is no fixed number of people who have been held hostage due to “security and practical difficulties,” 200 of them have been confirmed to be in the hands of Hamas since 7 October. The spokesperson added that 50 other hostages have been held by other “resistance factions and in other places.” UNRWA deletes post The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) had earlier posted the claim that Hamas stole its supplies on X but later deleted the post. In an earlier statement, the humanitarian body said, “UNRWA received reports that yesterday a group of people with trucks purporting to be from the Ministry of Health of the de facto authorities in Gaza, removed fuel and medical equipment from the Agency’s compound in Gaza City.” It added, “Our staff were compelled to evacuate the headquarters in Gaza City on a few hours’ notice during the night of Friday 13 October. Since then, UNRWA has had no access to the compound and no additional details about the removal of assets.”
