Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov stated on Sunday that half of the military assistance from the West to Kyiv arrives belatedly.
With a scarcity of ammunition, Ukraine has been complaining for months that Western aid is arriving slowly, which will seriously affect its two-year war with Russia.
“At the moment, commitment does not constitute delivery,” Umerov stated at an event marking the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Fifty percent of commitments are not delivered on time,” he added.
Umerov contended that this further disadvantages Ukraine “in the mathematics of war” against Russia, which the West claims is steadily transforming its economy into a military based one.
According to Umerov, if help is delayed, Kyiv will “lose people, lose territories,” particularly in light of Russia’s “air superiority”.
“We do everything possible and impossible but without timely supply it harms us,” he said.
A lack of ammunition has crippled Ukraine in recent weeks, and political squabbling in the US Congress is still preventing essential US aid from reaching the country.
