Ahead of the Munich Security Conference, a car drove into a crowd in Germany’s Munich on Thursday.
The police said that 28 people were injured in the incident that is now being treated as a suspected attack.
DW News reported broadcaster BR24 quoting eyewitnesses as saying that there were two men in the car and one of them was shot by the police and carried away.
The police have said that the man arrested by them is 24-year-old Afghan national who was driving the car, according to Sky News.
Separately, AFP reported the police as saying that the man is an asylum seeker.
The police have not said anything about the second occupant of the car.

Even though the police have been quoted as saying that there was no further danger from the driver, media have reported that a major police operation was underway in the city.
Some of the who’s who of the Western world are expected to be in Munich for the conference, such as US Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The incident comes weeks after a car rammed into people in Germany’s Magdeburg in Christmas market. Five people were killed and more than 200 were injured in the incident. The driver, a man from Saudi Arabia, was arrested from the spot.
