Gaza Conflict: Over 100 killed as Israel bombs Jabalia refugee camp

The Gazan health ministry stated on Monday that at least 100 people had died as a result of Israeli bombardment during the course of the night in the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, while another 100 were buried beneath the debris of demolished structures. According to the health ministry, “over 100 dead, 100 under the rubble, and 20 wounded” are the results of the attacks in Jabalia. The Israeli Army verified that during its operation in Jabalia, its soldiers found weaponry meant for “terrorist activities” as well as around 5 million Israeli shekels ($1.4 million). According to the Israeli military, it demolished tunnel entrances and targeted Hamas facilities that held ammunition, mortar rounds, military hardware, and explosives. After a protracted siege and bombing, Israeli forces invaded al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia on Sunday, holding its medical workers for several hours. According to the Gazan Ministry of Health, the hospital director was arrested and the doctors were questioned “in inhuman conditions.” In the Palestinian area devastated by war, Israeli forces have besieged, attacked, and taken control of multiple hospitals, claiming that Hamas’s tunnel network runs beneath them. Notably, this was purportedly the situation at Gaza City’s al-Shifa Hospital. On Sunday, Israeli soldiers fired an artillery shell that passed over the wall but did not explode towards the Tahrir building of Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, south of the enclave. According to the ministry, the attack claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl who was recovering from an earlier Israeli strike that resulted in the amputation of her legs. On Monday, the Israeli Army said it spotted “a suspicious terrorist cell entering Hamas’s infrastructure in the Khan Yunis area,” prompting ground troops to order a helicopter attack to eliminate the suspected militants. A military spokesman said that troops found and neutralised a sniper inside a Khan Yunis facility.
