According to a spokesman for the Gaza health ministry, the second-largest hospital in the Gaza Strip has been placed “completely out of service” on Sunday.
“There are only four medical staffers currently caring for patients” inside the Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis, Ashraf al-Qidra was quoted as saying by Reuters.
“The Nasser medical complex is the backbone of healthcare in the southern Gaza Strip. Its ceasing to function is a death sentence for hundreds of thousands of Palestinian displaced people in Khan Younis and Rafah,” he said.
Qidra claimed that violence surrounding the hosspital and a shortage of fuel had forced an end to operations.
Up until Sunday, Nasser was the biggest hospital in Gaza that was still operational in Gaza. It had been under siege because to Israel’s conflict with Hamas this week. The hospital was invaded on Thursday by Israeli commandos.
