An EVA Air flight, designated as BR67, en route from Bangkok to London, underwent an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport last Friday after a passenger allegedly attempted suicide inside the aircraft’s restroom, as per reports.
During the descent phase, cabin crew members discovered the passenger’s presence in the lavatory, prompting concern. Upon investigation, the crew found the individual in a condition indicative of a potential suicide attempt.
Details regarding the passenger’s identity and the underlying reasons for the attempted suicide remain undisclosed. However, onboard crew members, assisted by a physician among the passengers, administered initial medical assistance to the individual.
The aircraft safely landed at approximately 7:30 pm local time, with medical personnel prepared to transfer the passenger to a nearby hospital. As of now, there have been no updates regarding the passenger’s condition.
While EVA Air confirmed the occurrence of the incident, the airline has refrained from providing additional information or responding to inquiries for comment.
This incident follows a similar occurrence earlier this year, involving a Ryanair flight in January. During a journey from the UK to Spain, the flight diverted to Portugal due to a disturbance onboard. Allegedly, a group of intoxicated individuals was harassing female passengers, prompting intervention from flight attendants.
The situation escalated when a flight attendant was reportedly rendered unconscious by the unruly passengers, leading the captain to issue a warning and divert the flight for safety reasons.
