In a recent interview released Monday, Elon Musk addressed concerns regarding his drug use, particularly ketamine, suggesting that it ‘benefits’ Tesla investors.

The 52-year-old entrepreneur acknowledged taking prescribed ketamine to alleviate his “negative frame of mind,” a practice reportedly unsettling some investors, as per US media reports.

Musk stressed on the therapeutic effects of ketamine, commonly used for pain management and depression treatment. He explained to former CNN host Don Lemon that ketamine helps shift his mindset away from negativity. When questioned about potential investor concerns, Musk highlighted Tesla’s success, citing it as evidence that his actions should be endorsed if they contribute to positive outcomes for investors.

The entrepreneur, known for leading SpaceX and Tesla while also owning the social media platform X, clarified that his ketamine use is not excessive, asserting its occasional and controlled nature.

Musk denied misuse of the drug, stating that he only uses “a small amount once every other week or something like that.” He further remarked that he doesn’t consider himself to suffer from prolonged depression but resorts to ketamine when experiencing a “negative chemical state.”

During the hour-long interview, Musk also discussed meeting Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in March but did not indicate who he might support in November’s election.

He said he was “leaning away” from Democratic President Joe Biden, but said that did not mean he would support Trump, adding: “A lot can happen between now and the election.”

Last Friday, Musk posted on X that Americans should elect Republicans in November with a “red wave” or “America is doomed.”

“Imagine four more years of this getting worse,” he wrote, referring to one of Trump’s main talking points – the claim that the United States is being overwhelmed by illegal migration.
