Are they, aren’t they? Musk addresses ‘rumours’ about dating Italy’s Giorgia Meloni after viral pics

Billionaire Elon Musk and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni recently sparked dating rumors after they were clicked together at an award ceremony in New York. The event was a part of the United Nations General Assembly and saw the Tesla CEO praising Meloni for her leadership and character.

Meloni, who is recognised for her strong support of the EU and her role as Italy’s first female prime minister, on her part, thanked Musk for his kind words on her official X (previously Twitter) account.

However, soon after images of the two surfaced online, social media erupted with comments speculating about a potential romance.  

One user wrote, “I am totally shipping these two. Perfect,” while another remarked, “Now that is the kind of international power couple I can get behind.”

Phrases like “That’s Amore (That’s love)” also circulated, with fans expressing their admiration for the duo.

A Tesla fan club also posted a picture of Musk and Meloni and wrote, “Do you think they’ll date?"

Musk, on his part, quickly put an end to the speculation. Responding to a post questioning whether he and Meloni would date, he stated plainly, “Not dating.”

Meanwhile, while presenting Meloni with the Atlantic Council Global Citizen Award, Musk expressed his admiration for her, going on to state, “It’s an honour to present the accolade to someone who is even more beautiful on the inside than she was on the outside.” He further described Meloni as “authentic, honest, truthful - and that can’t always be said about politicians."

Meloni was honoured for her “strong support of the EU and for becoming the first female prime minister of Italy.”

This is, however, not the first time social media users have paired Musk and Meloni. In December last year, several posts on X claimed that the two were together after Musk accepted Meloni’s invitation to attend a political festival in Rome.
