A woman in the United States’ Arizona has been arrested for shooting her husband during an argument about ending their marriage. This information comes from a report in People Magazine. The Prescott Police Department shared on social media that the woman, Christina Pasqualetto, faces serious charges, including first-degree murder, aggravated assault, forgery, and theft. The incident occurred on September 20 when the 62-year-old woman drove from Gilbert to her former home in Prescott, where she used to live with her husband, Jon Pasqualetto. Jon was now the only person living in the house since they had been separated for several months. She arrived at the house shortly before midnight, and they had a heated argument about their divorce. Pasqualetto told the police that she didn’t want a divorce and shot him while he was in bed. The 80-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his wrist and was taken to a nearby hospital. He was later transported to a hospital in the Phoenix area for further treatment, but his injuries were not life-threatening. The Prescott Police Department stated in a press release, “When he informed her that he still wanted a divorce and had no intention of changing his mind, she produced a handgun and shot him while he was still in bed.” The police explained that after a physical altercation, Jon managed to “knock down” the woman, causing her to drop the gun, which allowed him to escape from the house. He went to his neighbor’s house to call 911. The police added, “During this time, the victim used his hands and elbows to defend himself and escape the situation. Eventually, he managed to get away and ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911.” According to the police, the man revealed that he had changed the locks on the house before the incident, but the keys and “other items” were missing. He also told the police that Pasqualetto had “stolen checks and forged a check for £10,000 about a week earlier and cashed it.” After authorities found a deposit slip matching the transaction, the 62-year-old admitted to forgery and theft when questioned.
