UK aviation giant launches new recruitment drive to fill thousands of jobs for next year

A major United Kingdom airline, EasyJet, has aimed to tackle the looming skills shortage in the aviation sector. It has opened applications for the 2026 engineering apprenticeship programme.  

It opens roads for the young minds, and a survey of around 2,000 youngsters commissioned by the airline reveals that most of the engineering graduates were not clear about their objective and often had misconceptions about their suitability of the career.  

This programme was conducted as it is estimated that about 27 per cent of the engineering airforce will retire within the next decade, helping the younger generation to explore the field further during the recession phase.  

An Independent report quoted Brendan McConnellogue, director of engineering and maintenance of EasyJet, as saying, “Our engineering apprenticeships give candidates the chance to gain valuable experience working on our state-of-the-art fleet of aircraft while helping to deliver on aviation’s commitment to decarbonisation.”
