Donald Trump says he has 'no idea' if Las Vegas shooter linked to Islamic State

Aboard Air Force One: US president Donald Trump said he did not know whether Stephen Paddock, the gunman behind the deadliest gun attack in modern US history, was linked to the Islamic State group.

Islamic State has twice said that the Las Vegas shooter, a 64-year-old retired accountant, was one of its "soldiers" via its propaganda news agency Amaq, without providing evidence.

Asked by a reporter aboard Air Force One whether be believed the link to be true, Trump said: "I have no idea."

Paddock killed 59 people and wounded hundreds more at a country music festival near his hotel. Police stormed his 32nd floor hotel room and found that he had killed himself after committing the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.
