China’s foreign ministry on Wednesday announced sanctions against nine US military-linked firms over selling weapons to Taiwan.
The sanctions were imposed hours after the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said that the State Department has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative officer (TECRO) valued at $228 million.

The US firms against whom the countermeasures have been taken are:
1 - Sierra Nevada Corporation
2 - Stick Rudder Enterprises LLC
3 - Cubic Corporation
4 - S3 AeroDefense
5 - TCOM
6 - TextOre
7 - Planate Management Group
8 - ACT1 Federal
9 - Exovera
The property of these US firms within China have also been feezed, a report by Reuters quoted a ministry statement as saying.
The statement by the ministry further stressed that organisations and individuals within China are prohibited from engaging in transactions with these firms.
