China and Russia have recently been into a diplomatic shift. The nations held their third round of joint anti-missile drills on Russian territory, as stated by China’s defence ministry late on Saturday.
Both the nations signed a “no-limits” strategic partnership before the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The pact helped both the countries to exercise coordination between their military armed forces.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin mostly hold frequent phone calls and meetings with official joint statements focusing on Russia’s narrative of addressing the legitimate security interests in Ukraine.
They also held talks on missile defence and strategic stability and held artillery and anti-submarine drills in the Sea of Japan in August.
The third round of joint anti-missile exercises were not aimed to target any third party in response to the current international situations, according to a post on the ministry’s website.
Both the nations jointly expressed concerns over US President Donald Trump’s “golden dome” missile shield plan, labelling it “deeply destabilising” and a threat to the global stability that could militarise space and spark in the arms race.
