Almost a week after Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun threatened to “blow up” an Air India flight on November 19, Canada’s federal police have said that a probe into the threat has been opened up. Transportation Minister Pablo Rodriguez said, “We take every threat seriously, especially when it concerns airlines,” adding that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is investigating the case. In a video message that surfaced last week, the head of the banned separatist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) urged Sikhs not to travel on by Air India flight on November 19 as it would put their lives in danger. This is the second threat issued by Pannun in two months. Last month, after Hamas launched its all-out attack on Israel, the SFJ head said it would attack India like Hamas did. In a video released last month, he said “(PM) Modi learned from the Palestine-Israel conflict. People under occupation from Punjab to Palestine will react and violence begets violence. If India is going to keep occupying Punjab, there will be a reaction." In September, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) confiscated the properties owned by Pannun in Chandigarh and Amritsar under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The probe agency has confiscated 46 kanals of agricultural land belonging to Pannu in the village of a terror case registered in 2020. With inputs from agencies
