Backing New Delhi amid the ongoing diplomatic row between Canada and India, Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said that Canada has become a “hub for murderers.” “Canada must not be a hub of all the murderers. The murderers can go to Canada and take shelter, and they can have a wonderful life while those they killed, their relatives are suffering,” Momen said in an interview with India Today. Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asserted that his country is committed to having “stronger ties” with India, days after making “credible allegations” that the Indian government was involved in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. ‘Canada not listening to us’ Momen said that while Bangladesh shares good relationships with both India and Canada, the government in Ottawa has turned a blind eye to the issue of extraditing Noor Chowdhury, the self-confessed assassin of Bangladesh’s founding father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. “Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s killer is having a good life in Canada. He has been there. And we have been requesting the Canadian government to send back self-confessed killer of Bangabandhu, the father of our nation. Unfortunately, Canada is not listening to us and they have come up with a variety of excuses,” Momen said. “So, we also went to the Canadian court to understand what is the status since he is staying in Canada for a long time. We want to know whether he is a Canadian citizen or not,” he added. He continued, “The murderers can go to Canada and take shelter, and they can have wonderful life while those he killed, their relatives are suffering. So, we have been asking the Canadian government to deport them.” ‘Proud of India’ Earlier, the Bangladeshi foreign minister said that the allegation made by Canada against India is a “sad episode,” adding that “Dhaka is very proud of India because they don’t do immature things.” “I think it is very sad, I don’t know the details of it so I can’t make any comment but we are very proud of India because they don’t do immature things. We have a very solid relationship with India and these are based on values and principles,” he said.
