A British police officer was allegedly raped at knifepoint and sexually assaulted beneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Just before midnight on Monday, the victim, age 23, called the French police to report that she had been attacked by a man in the Champ-de-Mars. As per the complaint of the woman, the accused allegedly pulled out the knife as she sought to turn down his approach. He ran away, but the cops later tracked him down. A male, 35, was detained by the police about an hour after the victim reported the crime. Le Parisien reported that the woman was a traveler spending the night with a friend. According to reports, the attacker picked her out as she hid behind a bush to use a restroom. After only a brief separation from her friend, the suspect displayed the weapon and is accused of carrying out the crime. She reportedly dialed emergency services right away. As firefighters attended to the victim, an anti-crime squad arrived on the site. The 35-year-old was detained overnight by police officers stationed at the 7th police station after being arrested. The inquiry is still ongoing. Mohammed, a 20-year-old Chechen immigrant, fatally stabbed one teacher while injuring two others at a school in Arras. Later on, Dominique Bernard, 57, was identified as the instructor. In a prior statement regarding the event, President Macron stated: “The teacher who was slain interfered first. He undoubtedly helped save a lot of lives. The staff members who were also critically hurt on the job exhibited the same bravery as his seriously hurt colleague. But at that time, the principal and numerous others also agreed. I’m here to express the support of the country. To declare that we are a single entity and that we are steadfast… The decision has been made not to succumb to panic and not to let anything split us apart. Following the fatal incident, authorities raised the alert level to its maximum level and sent out an additional 7,000 troops to patrol important sites.
