Plan to kill Anar devised months ago
Anar was not killed in a fit of rage. Instead, his murder was well-planned three months ago, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) chief Additional Commissioner Harunor Rashid has said.
The crime took place on Indian soil in Kolkata as police surveillance in Dhaka had been ramped up in anticipation of the crime.
“They did not dare to carry out the crime in Bangladesh. However, their efforts to escape justice were in vain. The police have arrested three individuals, and several others are under surveillance," Rashid said.
Gold smuggling the reason for murder?
Meanwhile, West Bengal officials believe that the motive for murdering Anar might have been over “a disagreement on gold smuggling.”
