According to a BGB officer, the district administration will make arrangements to hand them over to their families after immigration formalities and interrogation, he added. He also said the 37 were from Habiganj, Kishoreganj, Bogra, Sirajganj, Sunamganj, Madarpur and Jamalpur districts. After the rescue of 208 boat people on May 21, Myanmar claimed 200 of them were Bangladeshi nationals. The BGB returned 150 of them after checking their identities on 8 June.
