An Air India flight bound for Delhi from Hong Kong was forced to return shortly after takeoff due to a suspected technical issue. The flight AI315 was being operated by the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. What makes the matter concerning is the fact that earlier this month, another Boeing 787- 8 Dreamliner aircraft bound for London crashed in Ahmedabad, killing 421 people onboard and 33 people on the ground.

According to ANI, the plane departed from Hong Kong as scheduled but turned back mid-air after the pilot observed a possible system malfunction. The authorities noted that the plane landed safely in Hong Kong and all passengers onboard were safe.

Technical teams are currently inspecting the aircraft to determine the cause of the issue. Details of the suspected technical fault are yet to be officially confirmed. All passengers and crew members were evacuated safely shortly after the landing of the aircraft.

The recent technical glitch came days after a tragic crash of the same aircraft model. In the Ahmedabad crash, the aircraft plunged into the campus of a medical college in Meghaninagar.

Soon after the crash, the aircraft burst into flame, causing heavy devastation. On board were 230 passengers, two pilots, and ten crew members. A British national of Indian origin was the sole survivor of the crash and is currently undergoing treatment.
