United States’ support for Israel in its ongoing war against Hamas is ironclad, Secretary of Defence Llyod Austin said Friday. Austin, while addressing a joint presser with Israel Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, said that the US “will make sure Israel will have what it needs to defend itself.” Austin is in Israel on for meetings with senior government leaders and to see first-hand some of the US weapons and security assistance that Washington rapidly delivered to Israel in the first week of its war with the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. Austin stressed “this is no time for neutrality” and the US was behind its ally Israel in its war on terror. Gallant informed that Israel will on Friday recieve second US aircraft carrier. He also said the ongoing conflict was a “war on the wxistence of Israel as a democratic state.” While responsind to a question on if he thought Iran was a party to Hamas’s Saturday attack, he said that Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas were one axis, “an axis of evil.” Hamas terrotists launched a multi-pronged attack on Israel on Saturday — via land, sea and air. That attack, so far, has left 1200 dead and thousands wounded besides over a hundred in Hamas’ capitivity in Gaza. Israel responded to the attack with instense strikes on Hamas target in Gaza. The retaliatory attack has, so far, left over 1500 dead and thousands wounded, taking the total death toll in the ongoing conflict around 2700.
