External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Tuesday held a conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which the two leaders reviewed key areas of bilateral and strategic cooperation, including trade, critical minerals, nuclear energy, defence, and energy.
Sharing details of the discussion on X, Jaishankar wrote, “Just concluded a good conversation with @SecRubio. Discussed trade, critical minerals, nuclear cooperation, defence and energy. Agreed to remain in touch on these and other issues.”
The discussion comes amid anticipation that India and the US are nearing the first phase of a long-awaited trade deal, which is reportedly in its final stages. Earlier, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick had criticised India for delays in the negotiations.
