An assailant on Wednesday stabbed six people in Israel’s Hadera, according to the police.

Israeli media outlets have reported that two of those injured are in critical condition.

In a brief statement, the Israel Police said in Hebrew that the assailant had been neutralised and the attack injured six people.

Even though the police did not name the assailant, The Times of Israel reported him to be 36-year-old Israeli-Arab Ahmad Jabareen.

The attack comes at a time when tensions in the region are high following Iran’s missile barrage on Israel last week. As Israel is preparing to respond to the attack, there are fears that the two countries may get into an escalatory spiral that may drag the region in an all-out war.

The Wednesday’s attack in Hadera is the latest such attack inside Israel. Last week, seven people were killed in a shooting attack in Tel Aviv. The attack came just before Iran launched 180 ballistic missiles at Israel.
