No Kurta for Mugabe: PM Modi hosted the India Africa Forum Summit delegations' Heads in a traditional way, with the delegates dressed in brightly coloured 'Kurta pyjama with Bandi' and 'safa' sewn specially for them. However, conspicuous by the absence of Indian attire was Zimbabwe President Robert Gabriel Mugabe who opted for a suit instead. PTI

The MEA had earlier requested the ‘measurements’ of all 54 African heads of state, so that a half-sleeve kurta and churidar ensemble may be stitched for them and the photo-op in kurtas was said to be "one of the highlights of the summit and will help demonstrate the solidarity and age-old partnership India has with the African countries”.
