Their vehicle was located on Saturday, at approximately 9:30 pm, off a steep embankment along Big Wheeling Creek Road.

Four senior citizens of Indian origin, who vanished during a road trip from New York to Pennsylvania a few days back, have been found dead following a vehicle crash, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

The discovery brings a heartbreaking end to a search that gripped local authorities and communities since the group was reported missing earlier this week.

On Saturday (August 2), at approximately 9:30 pm, the family’s vehicle was located off a steep embankment along Big Wheeling Creek Road, several miles from the highway.

Emergency responders found their vehicle at the bottom of the remote, rugged terrain, in what the Sheriff’s Department described as one of their most challenging recovery efforts, taking over five hours to access the scene.

Who are the deceased individuals?

The deceased individuals are Dr. Kishore Divan, 89; Asha Divan, 85; Shailesh Divan, 86; and Gita Divan, 84.

According to reports, before going missing, the group was last spotted at a Burger King on Peach Street in Erie, Pennsylvania, on July 29.

Their last known credit card transaction also took place at this location. The family was travelling in a light green Toyota Camry with a New York license plate, EKW2611, en route to the Palace of Gold in Marshall County, a well-known religious site established by disciples of Swami Prabhupada, the founder of Isckon.

The group had planned to stay at the Palace of Gold on Tuesday night, but according to WTRF.com, police confirmed that they never checked in. Adding to concerns, none of the four answered their phones since July 29, with cell tower data last detecting signals from their devices around 3 am on Wednesday in Moundsville.

Marshall County Sheriff Mike Dougherty earlier told WTOV News9, “We have a few leads that we and surrounding law enforcement agencies are investigating, but have not yet located the missing persons.”

Authorities had escalated their efforts, deploying helicopters and additional search teams to comb the area.

This case follows another recent disappearance involving an Indian national. In June, a 24-year-old woman named Simran went missing in New Jersey shortly after arriving for an arranged marriage. Investigators at the time suggested she may not have intended to marry and could have used the trip as an opportunity to travel to the United States.
