Two Indian students died in a car accident in the US, the Indian Consulate in New York said in a statement on Tuesday. The victims, identified as Manav Patel and Saurav Prabhakar, were from Cleveland State University.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with their families during this difficult time. The Consulate is in touch with the families and has assured them of all possible assistance,” the consulate said on X.

How did their car crash?

According to PTI, the accident happened on May 10 in Pennsylvania’s Lancaster County. The police said that the students were driving after their car skidded off the road, striking a tree and then colliding with a bridge.

According to a report by LancasterOnline, Saurav Prabhakar was behind the wheel, with Manav Patel riding as a passenger. Both were declared dead at the scene. The coroner confirmed they died from multiple traumatic injuries, and their deaths were classified as accidental.

A third individual, whose identity has not yet been released, was also in the vehicle and was taken to Reading Hospital for treatment.
