Eleven people died on Sunday after a Bolero carrying 15 passengers lost control and fell into a canal in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district.
Police said the passengers were returning from a temple visit when the accident happened. The identities of the victims are yet to be confirmed.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the families and announced ₹5 lakh in aid for each victim’s next of kin.
“The accident in Gonda is deeply tragic. My thoughts are with the grieving families,” he said, directing officials to ensure proper treatment for the injured and wishing them a speedy recovery.

“The loss of life in the unfortunate accident in the district of Gonda is extremely tragic and heart-wrenching. My condolences are with the grief-stricken families. Instructions have been given to provide financial assistance of Rs 05-05 lakh to the kin of those who lost their lives in this accident,” Adityanath said.
