1 killed, dozens injured as severe turbulence hits Singapore Airlines flight

A Singapore Airlines aircraft from London to Singapore was hit by extreme turbulence on Monday leading to the death of a passenger. In addition, several dozen passengers were injured in the incident.

The Boeing 777-300ER carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members had to make an emergency landing in Bangkok due to erratic weather during the flight.

On Monday, the aircraft took off from the Heathrow airport in London and was scheduled to arrive in Singapore. But the unanticipated turbulence had a deadly result; over thirty passengers were reported injured during the turbulence, and one passenger died from injuries.

Emergency services arrived in Bangkok at 3:45 PM local time on Tuesday and handled the situation quickly. Singapore Airlines sent the family of the deceased passenger their sincere condolences and reaffirmed that providing the impacted passengers and staff with all required support is their top priority.
