Happiness Hotspots: The 10 most joyful cities in Asia this year

Beijing Ranking second, Beijing’s blend of serene parks and vibrant hutongs, along with its ancient culture and modern urban life, gives over 90 per cent of respondents the sense that their city makes them happy.

Shanghai Another Chinese city, Shanghai, has ranked third on the list. Shanghai thrills with its futuristic flair, dynamic food scene, and riverfront promenades, making its locals and residents extremely happy. 

Chiang Mai This Thai city has a slower pace, a rich cultural heritage and lush surroundings, which help its residents feel happy and secure, making it the fifth on the list.

Hanoi The Vietnamese capital Hanoi’s happiness lies in the everyday rituals ranging from morning coffee to bustling markets. The place stands out for strong community positivity and everyday joy. Thus, it has secured the fifth position on the list.

Jakarta The locals celebrate the small things in life each day. From street food fests to their close-knit community, everything in Jakarta makes the locals happy. Thus, it has secured the sixth position on the list.

Hong Kong Despite its size and complexity, Hong Kong has secured the seventh position on the list. The city offers hiking trails, great food and a sense of community.

Bangkok Bangkok’s lively food culture, affordability and energetic atmosphere help it claim the eighth spot on the list. The city offers great shopping experiences, endless entertainment and a shared sense of belonging.

Singapore In the ninth position is Singapore with its order and ample opportunities. The lush parks, efficient living, rich food taste and urban planning have locals and visitors singing its praises.
