Best food cities in the world: Are there any Indian cities on the list?

Naples This Italian city has topped the list. With its wood-fired pizza, fresh seafood, creamy buffalo mozzarella, sfogliatella pastries, rum-soaked baba and strong espresso, it is every foodie’s dream.

Milan Milanese cuisine blends elegance and tradition with dishes like saffron-infused risotto alla Milanese, crispy cotoletta, creamy panettone, ossobuco, rich cheeses and espresso. The city, with its rich cuisine, has secured the second position.

Bologna At the third position is Bologna with its rich and hearty cuisine, featuring tagliatelle al ragu, tortellini in broth, mortadella, lasagne alla Bolognese, and crescentine among other dishes. 

Florence Another Italian city has ranked fourth on the list. Florence offers simple and earthy flavours highlighting olive oil, fresh bread and seasonal ingredients. It includes bistecca alla Fiorentina, ribollita, pappa al pomodoro, crostini and hearty bean stews.

Mumbai At the fifth position is India’s financial capital, Mumbai. The city offers a slew of dishes ranging from buttery pav bhaji to crispy koliwadas.

Amritsar Amritsar has ranked 43rd on the list with dishes like Amritsari kulcha, palak paneer, pinni and sarson da saag among other dishes. And for those with a sweet tooth, Kheer at Crystal Restaurant is a must-try.

New Delhi New Delhi’s cuisine is a flavourful mix of North Indian classics like butter chicken, chole bhature, kebabs, parathas, biryani, and street foods like golgappas. It has secured the 45th position on the list. 

Hyderabad Ranked 50th is Hyderabad. The city offers cuisines blending Mughlai, Turkish and Telugu influences with rich dishes like biryani, haleem, nihari, kebabs and baghara baingan among others.

Kolkata The city, which is famous for its love affair with food, has secured 71st rank on the list. Fish curry, shorshe ilish, kosha mangsho, rolls, puchka, mishti doi, and roshogolla are some dishes you must try.

Chennai At the 75th position is Chennai with its dosa, idli, sambar, vada, filter coffee, Chettinad curry and Pongal. The city’s cuisine showcases South Indian flavours rooted in rich Tamil culinary tradition.
