Lump or swelling One of the most common and earliest signs of breast cancer is finding lumps on the breast, upper chest and armpit area. Although, lumps can be a common occurrence and may not mean anything major. 

Change of skin If the skin suddenly begins to change texture and starts dimpling or puckering, it can be signs of early breast cancer. Redness or flaky skin in the breast and nipple area can also be signs. 

Changes in shape and size If there is a sudden change in the size or shape of the breast be sure to get it checked. This change is often noticeable.

Nipple discharge Bloody or clear discharge from the nipple should be checked immediately. Similarly, a change in the position or appearance of the nipple should be checked.

Consistent pain Another way to check for breast cancer is by checking if you have persistent pain in the breast, nipple, upper chest and armpit region.

Loss of weight Although this is a common issue among people, a sudden change in weight can indicate the onset of breast cancer. It is better to stay aware and get it checked as soon as possible. 

Change in colour If there is a change in the colour of your skin, it can be a sign of breast cancer. For white-skinned people, the colour turns pink or red while for brown-skinned people it can be red or purple. 

Skin peeling If the skin on the breast or nipple is peeling, scaling, crusting or even flaking it can be a time to visit your nearest doctor.
