Salted Snacks

Snacks like chips and salted nuts are considered to be extremely harmful for the body when paired with tea.

Cakes

Pairing sweet treats like cakes, doughnuts and chocolates with tea may not be a good idea as it can spike sugar levels immediately. Consuming complementary sugar sweets that are not harmful for the body can be a better way. 

Fruit Salad

Fruits, when consumed alone, can be the best source of nutrients. But when combined with tea, these can become poisonous. Thus, it is advisable to consume fruit salads without any beverage

Dairy products

Products like milk, cream or curd reduce the antioxidant properties of the tea. It is advisable to skip milk and opt for  green or black tea. 

Acidic foods

Food high on acidity levels like lemon, orange and other citrus fruits should be avoided as pair up with tea. These foods will interfere with the absorption of antioxidants found in tea. Consuming acidic foods can reduce catechins that the body can absorb. 

Iron-rich foods

Foods rich in iron do not sit well with tea. Tea consists of oxalates which can disrupt the absorption of iron from iron-rich foods. One should avoid pairing iron-rich foods with nuts, green leafy vegetables, grains, lentils and cereals with tea. 

Fried Foods

Besan or gram flour should be avoided being paired with tea. It becomes hard for the body to digest oily foods at once. Thus, advisable to skip the pakodas and bhajiyas.
