US President-elect Donald Trump has selected former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard as his Director of National Intelligence. Gabbard is a former Democrat, who ran for presidency in 2020 and later withdrew from the race to support President Joe Biden. The 43-year-old politician left the Democratic Party in 2022. This year, she endorsed Trump's candidacy and joined the Republican Party in October. Gabbard became the first Hindu elected to the US House of Representatives in 2012. Before that, she was the youngest woman to be elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives in 2002 and joined the Hawaii Army National Guard in 2003.
