Calling India's tariffs "among the highest in the world," Trump accused New Delhi of creating unfair trade barriers and maintaining a massive trade deficit with the US. He also criticised India's purchase of Russian oil and weapons amid the Ukraine war. Shortly after the announcement, Trump revealed a new oil development deal with Pakistan. India responded by saying it is reviewing the decision and remains committed to a fair and balanced trade agreement with the US.
