US President Donald Trump has signed a sweeping executive order imposing reciprocal tariffs ranging from 10% to 41% on over 70 countries, including India, Canada, Brazil and Taiwan. India faces a steep 25% tariff following stalled trade talks and tensions over its agriculture sector and Russian oil imports. Canada was hit with an immediate 35% tariff over fentanyl concerns, while Mexico received a 90-day reprieve. Trump invoked emergency powers to justify the tariffs, citing national security and unfair trade practices. The new rates take effect seven days from signing, with some exemptions. The move has triggered price hikes and legal challenges, as China faces an August 12 deadline for a separate deal.
