Benny Gantz, one of the three ministers in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's war cabinet, has stepped down. Last month, he threatened to resign from his position if Netanyahu fails to come up with a post-war strategy for the Gaza Strip. Gantz's party was the only centrist power in the prime minister's far-right coalition. Now, Netanyahu will become more heavily reliant on far-right allies who want to press ahead with the war and oppose the latest ceasefire backed by the United States. Meanwhile, the Israeli military rescued four hostages held by Hamas in Gaza in the largest operation in eight months of war. Gaza's health officials said at least 274 Palestinians were killed in the assault.
