With just hours before polls open in New York City, the mayoral race has tightened dramatically. Democratic frontrunner Zohran Mamdani’s lead has shrunk to single digits, with independent challenger Andrew Cuomo surging among moderates and Republican Curtis Sliwa focusing on crime and transport. The campaign has turned combative, with fiery debates and President Trump threatening to cut federal funds if Mamdani wins.
