After much speculation, US President Joe Biden has announced that he is dropping out of the presidential race for the 2024 election. The president has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic presidential nominee. The announcement comes weeks after Biden's disastrous debate performance against former President Donald Trump, who last week was formally nominated as the Republican presidential nominee. Since then, Congressmen in Democratic Party were urging Biden to step aside for a younger nominee. Biden is the first incumbent president to drop out of the presidential race this close in nearly 50 years of the American history.
