Welcome to Firstpost America. Israel has announced a major breakthrough in military defence with the Iron Beam, a high-power laser system set for operational deployment by the end of this year. Co-developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Elbit Systems, the Iron Beam complements existing systems like Iron Dome, David's Sling and Arrow. Unlike traditional interceptors costing tens of thousands of dollars, each laser shot costs just a few dollars. The system can destroy rockets, mortars, drones and low-flying aircraft instantly, using advanced adaptive optics for precise targeting over long distances. Mobile, compact and maritime versions are also in development. Deployment marks a historic leap in air defence technology.
