Violence flared for a third straight night outside Dublin's Citywest Hotel, where hundreds of protesters clashed with Irish Police over the housing of asylum seekers. At least 23 people were arrested as bottles, bricks and fireworks were thrown at police, and a police van was set ablaze. The unrest followed the alleged sexual assault of a ten-year-old girl nearby, sparking outrage and misinformation online. Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan condemned the "thuggish violence," while Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin praised police for their bravery. Irish Police said the violence was fuelled by anti-immigrant groups on social media and vowed a "robust response" to any further unrest.
