Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has issued a rare and unusually restrained apology through a full-page advertisement in the Wall Street Journal. In the letter, titled To Those I’ve Hurt, he denies being a Nazi or antisemite, calls the swastika a destructive symbol and expresses regret over selling swastika-emblazoned T-shirts in 2025. Ye attributes his past behaviour to bipolar type-one disorder, which he says was worsened by an undiagnosed brain injury from a 2002 car crash. He also apologised to the Black community for previous controversial remarks.
